It depends on whether you can get a wire in the framing for a recessed sensor or not. If you can, drill a 3/4" hole in the frame and run the wire through it, then just put in a Roller Ball (that's the absolute easiest type of contact for a door, doesn't matter which side it is on - although it's better on the latch side.)

If you can't run the wires through the wall/floor/frame and you need a surface mount contact, don't get a cheap stick-on, get a good heavy-duty screw-mount contact.

You shouldn't have a problem running the wires in the wall or through the attic or crawl-space though (if you are not using wireless.)

Good luck!

: I am in the process of wiring my house and I have a Steel front door. My question is... what type of contact should I use? Any suggestions and brands would be appreciated
