If they are a Monitronics dealer, then they give away their alarms for a 36-60 month contract at $30+. They'll probably give you the whole "manager" spill and how easy it is to "give-away" alarms, etc. I've worked for some of these companies in the past (most of them Monitronics dealers) and, IMHO, the whole thing is shady and very deceiptful. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying these are bad people or that they are doing anything wrong - it's just the way they go about "selling" their alarm systems. It's not a free system, you're not paying for the monitoring, you are financing your system for 36-60 months and it will show up on your credit report.
On the other hand, I've also serviced for Montronics for years and, for the most part, they are a good company and do a good job with the half a million accounts they have. I just think they should be more picky about who they allow to be dealers for them.
Enough said, be your own judge. If you don't feel the way they are doing business is wrong, more power to ya. Just make sure you ask a lot of questions :)
