pc1550 master code reset

I bought a house recently which has a PC1550. The previous owner of the house has not given me the master code. Can someone please give me the exact instructions to reset the master code so that I can then re-program the system? Do I need to reset the master code if all I want to do is arm and dis-arm the system? I do not have the access code which allows me to disarm the system.
