: I have a DSC Power832 (PC5010) security system that doesn't seem to function properly anymore. The LED control panels all have both the memory and fire lights on and I can't reset them or set my alarms anymore.
: Also, I noticed that one of my 2 smoke detectors (Meridian MN220, 2-Wire) has its LED on continuously while the other has an LED that blinks about every minute (and is otherwise off).
: The smoke detector which is on continuously is near the kitchen and has been triggered numerous times. I suspect it is faulty and/or needs to be cleaned but I'm not sure. Is this the likely scenario???
: If it does need to be cleaned, how does one do that? I tried a blow dryer but that didn't seem to do anything.
:
: One other fact that I don't think is relevant but may be. I recently had to change the backup battery...
try *71 or *72 to reset the smoke detector, the one that has the led on solid is the one that activated, it will then latch into alarm and need the power disconnected breifly to it to reset it, normaly, if wired up correctly, *71 or *72 will drop the power to the smokes to reset them, while it is in alarm (latch state) you wont be able to arm the system, yes you can clean them, its a matter of pulling them apart and cleaning the smoke chamber that comes away from the detector body, you can use hot water and or contact cleaner to do this, if you use contact cleaner test it else where like the exsposed side of the chamber plastic, some types of contact cleaner can react to different plastics and ruin them, then once its all clean (the chamber/head that is) and free from dust etc and reset you just need to arm and disarm to clear the memory led, check to see if that smoke detector is to close to the kitchen, it may need to be relocated, Ive never like the DSC smokes, they are a pain to get back on the mounting base and have false alarms on them aswell, good luck
