I have a DSC 864 with 2 5500-z keypads. 8 zones hardwired. Plus the battery is a 12 volt 7 amp battery.

Question is.I was installing my system and havent touched it for 2 months.. THe battery has sat uncharged for about 3 months. I just hooked it up and put it in the alarm panel. On the top of the board for the 864 there is a silver heat sink. My question is how how should this heat sink get? Right now it is pretty warm. I can put my fingers on it and it wont burn me but it is pretty hot to the touch.
Is this because the battery is charging up? Or is this the normal operating temp of the heat sink.
As far as the witing goes I used 22/4 for all the connections. (magnetic door switches, glassbreaks, motions, and also used 22/4 to wire up the transformer) Is this ok?

Thanks alot
