How to Start

 Before you begin designing your own web site it's always a good idea to go look at your competitors. Look at their design and make notes on:

How easy it is to navigate
The quality of Information they give
How they use color and images

After viewing a dozen web sites you can begin to design your own. Gather all the information you need and create an outline on paper. Keep the following tips in mind when you design your site.

• As often as possible use the following fonts. (verdana, helvetica, times new roman, arial) They are clean and easily read across browsers and operating systems. Just add them in the exact same order in your .html file.
  
• Make small .gifs or .jpgs for the type that you want to look funky & fancy.
  
• Make sure the quality of your images you use are crisp & lively. Give people the option of clicking thumbnails to view larger images.
  
• Don't make your web pages larger than about 50KB. Smaller pages also get better indexed in most search engines
